Step by step recipe with photoI bring to your attention a wonderful refreshing drink – rhubarb kissel. This wonderful plant has the property to improve the function of the gastrointestinal tract and the heart muscle. Rhubarb contains even more magnesium and iron than apples. Rhubarb stalks contain a lot of useful acids, trace elements and vitamins A, B and C.
But rhubarb is not only healthy, it is also very tasty! As a child, we used to eat the stalks simply by dipping them in sugar. And today I suggest you make a very tasty and healthy rhubarb kissel. Break off the stalks from the plant, then tear off the leaves themselves, they are not needed.
The petioles are very easy to peel – you just need to lift the very edge of the petioles with a knife and remove the top layer with long ribbons. Cut the petioles into small cubes.
To make rhubarb casserole, we need more starch and sugar. I also squeezed the juice of half an orange, I decided to experiment. Getting ahead of myself, I say that I liked rhubarb kissel with orange juice very much!
Pour 1.2 liters of water over chopped rhubarb, bring it to a boil and immediately remove it from the heat. We need to strain our broth, puree the petioles with a blender. Pour one incomplete glass of broth separately to cool, in it we will stir the starch.
Return the broth and puree to the pot, add sugar and bring to a boil. You can vary the amount of sugar to your liking. Stir 2 tablespoons of starch in a glass of cool broth and pour thinly into the pot, stirring. Bring the kissel to a boil, but do not boil.
Our rhubarb kissel is ready! Enjoy it in good health!
Rhubarb kissel can also be drunk warm, but cold it is very refreshing on a hot day! You can add orange juice, and you can enjoy the kissel as it is! Be healthy!
